The Customer
Hansesgården is a family-run e-commerce business in Hälsingland, Sweden, selling home textiles and gifts. With over 15 years of operations on the Swedish e-commerce platform Abicart, they had accumulated a vast database of sales history, customer information, and product data — but lacked the tools to analyze it.
All decisions about purchasing, product range, and marketing were based on gut feeling and manual review of individual reports. The data existed — but was locked away in export files, hard-to-access spreadsheets, and the platform's limited reporting features.
The Challenge
Hansesgården faced several concrete problems typical of small and medium-sized e-commerce businesses:
- ●No overview of which products were actually profitable — 15 years of data existed but was unstructured
- ●Inventory value tied up in non-selling products — dead stock grew without anyone noticing
- ●Purchasing decisions were based on intuition instead of seasonal patterns and historical data
- ●No customer segmentation — all customers were treated equally regardless of purchase history and value
- ●Actual campaign ROI was unknown — marketing budget was allocated without follow-up
The Solution: Abicart Dashboard
CargoBeacon built a custom analytics solution — the Abicart Dashboard — that connects directly to the Abicart e-commerce platform API. The dashboard fetches, transforms, and visualizes all sales, inventory, and customer data in real time.
The solution is open source and available on GitHub, making it reusable for other Abicart merchants facing the same challenges.

Beyond IoT
The Hansesgården project demonstrates CargoBeacon's ability to deliver value beyond IoT sensors and hardware. The same expertise in data analytics, visualization, and system integration that powers our IoT solutions can be applied to pure business analytics and decision support.
For small and medium businesses sitting on years of unanalyzed data, a custom dashboard solution can be as transformative as new technology. Sometimes digital transformation isn't about introducing something new — it's about finally understanding what you already have.
Funding
The project was funded through Propell/T-ReX (Transformation Region X) — an EU-funded innovation program via the European Regional Development Fund, administered by Region Gävleborg through IUC Gävleborg and RISE. The program supports digitalization and innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises in Gävleborg County.
